An onchain transfer agent helps maintain the official record of who holds a security using blockchain technology.
When a company issues shares, bonds, or other investments, it needs an official record of who holds them. A transfer agent is the company that keeps that record up to date when ownership changes.
An onchain transfer agent does some of that work using a blockchain. It can record how many tokens each wallet holds and when they move. The names and details of the people behind those wallets may still be kept separately.
