Zero-knowledge proofs (ZK proofs or ZKPs) are methods that allow one party to demonstrate to another party the truth of a statement without disclosing any other information.
Consider the following real-life examples:
- Off-the-record interviews: When a journalist receives sensitive info under the condition of anonymity, they can verify its credibility without disclosing the source's identity.
- Passwords: When you enter your password details online, a system verifies your submission without storing or transmitting it.
