Changelog – August 2020

In August, MoonPay expanded support for new fiat and cryptocurrencies, including added coverage throughout the United States. We’re also excited to offer a preview of one of our most-anticipated capabilities to date — the MoonPay sell feature!

New cryptocurrencies added

We’ve expanded the list of cryptocurrencies we support, bringing the total number up to 68. The new assets are Algorand (ALGO), Travala (AVA), Band (BAND), Compound (COMP), Polkadot (DOT), Chainlink (LINK), Maker (MKR), OMG Network (OMG), Augur (REP) and Terra USD (UST). We also now support Elrond Gold (EGLD), which replaces the Elrond (ERD) token. The full list of our supported assets is here.

Expanded USA cryptocurrencies and coverage

All the cryptocurrencies on our list can be bought by residents of any of our supported countries except the USA, where we offer a more limited range due to regulations. However, we have now enabled Basic Attention Token (BAT), Chainlink (LINK), OMG Network (OMG) and 0x (ZRX) for the USA, bringing the total number of cryptocurrencies our US customers can purchase to 16.

In more good news for the USA, we’ve added Iowa, Mississippi, and West Virginia to our list of supported US states. We now support 42 out of the 50 US states, as well as Puerto Rico. Our complete list of supported territories and states is here.

New fiat currencies added

Customers can now choose to purchase in any of our 42 fiat currencies. Our newest additions are the Jordanian Dollar (JOD), Japanese Yen (JPY), South Korean Won (KRW), Kuwaiti Dinar (KWD), Omani Rial (OMR) and Vietnamese Dong (VND). The full list is here.

Preview our sell crypto feature!

We’ve been hard at work on our biggest project yet – giving customers the ability to sell their cryptocurrency in exchange for fiat. For a preview of this feature, check out the documentation at https://www.moonpay.io/getting_started/ > Sell Widget.
