MoonPay is officially six years old.
We’ve achieved a lot since our 2019 launch. We’ve built through early adoption, mainstream acceptance, and institutional buy-in. We’ve innovated through bull markets, bear markets, and everything in between. We’re seasoned yet spry, moving with the same “startup energy” that got us here.
This past year was especially eventful. We processed a record number of transactions, shipped game-changing products, and made a major acquisition.
Here’s a brief recap of some of the best highlights.

30M customers
We increased our user base from 20M to 30M.
That’s a big leap but it’s still early. We’re going to keep this momentum going and hopefully pick up the next 10M quicker than we did the last.
Product updates
Perhaps our most important product launch was MoonPay Balance, which enables users to hold fiat currency directly in their account. Our co-founder and CEO, Ivan Soto-Wright, calls it a true “both-and” solution for combining control of DeFi with the ease-of-use of CeFi.
Other launches include:
- Our new and improved app, which has a smoother UI and faster performance
- Web3 Tools, an enterprise-grade platform for building mainstream-ready digital experiences
- Stamps, which users earn by completing MoonPay transactions
- An enhanced Partner Dashboard with a more intuitive interface

Helio acquisition
At the end of the year we acquired Helio, Solana’s premier crypto payment processor, bringing the company’s technology, team, and ecosystem into MoonPay’s portfolio.
Helio is integrated into 6.5K+ merchants and has handled $1.5B+ in transactions. It’s also integrated into Shopify, where it is white-labeled as “Solana Pay” and installed by thousands of their e-commerce stores.

New partners
PayPal and Venmo were introduced as payment methods and our Solana footprint grew with partners like Moonshot, Jupiter, and Raydium.
