    MoonPay powers payments for sports collectibles platform Sweet

    MoonPay is pleased to announce the latest phase of our ongoing partnership with Sweet, the blockchain-based platform that specializes in creating fan engagement experiences for major sports leagues and teams. 

    Sweet has now made it possible for fans of Major League Soccer to buy and list exclusive MLS digital collectibles on MLS QUEST, an online marketplace that launched Monday. 

    "Projects like these are helping leagues and teams engage with their fans in powerful new ways," said Ivan Soto-Wright, MoonPay's co-founder and CEO. "MoonPay has always been passionate about strengthening sports communities, but we’re especially thrilled that such an innovative major sports league like MLS is the latest to connect with its fans in this way."

    Fans interested in playing MLS QUEST can begin their journey by acquiring their initial Key Play of the Game medallions free at mlsquest.com.

    Additional Key Play of the Game Medallions can then be acquired both in-person and online by scanning a QR code or clicking a link at any “Official MLS Pick Up Zone” (click here for details). Fans can then trade in the Trade Lounge or purchase more medallions on the Marketplace.

    Founded in 2019, Sweet leverages its blockchain expertise to offer officially-licensed digital assets that fans can buy, sell, and trade. The platform is well-known for its collaboration with the NHL on "NHL Breakaway", where they created a range of officially licensed video-based NHL hockey collectibles (for which MoonPay powers payments). 

    Sweet’s broader mission is to help large sports leagues enhance fan engagement and drive newer audiences to their ecosystems through innovative and gamified blockchain-based collectible experiences.
