Interesting fact

Uyeda’s grandfather and mother were interned in 1942 due to their Japanese ancestry.

The SEC has five Commissioners who serve five-year terms. One of these Commissioners serves as Chair, and no more than three can belong to the same political party.

What is the “crypto task force”?

Acting chairs don’t just keep the seat warm for their successors. On day one Uyeda launched a “crypto task force” entrusted with “developing a comprehensive and clear regulatory framework for crypto assets.”

The new unit will be led by SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce (aka “crypto mom”) and is intended to seek a “sensible regulatory path” for the industry.
