Cynthia Lummis is a U.S. Senator from Wyoming.
Affectionately known in the crypto community as the “Bitcoin Senator”, Lummis has introduced legislation that would create a Bitcoin strategic reserve: a stockpile of BTC held by the U.S. Treasury.

At just 24, Lummis became the youngest woman ever elected to the Wyoming State Legislature.
BSR basics
A Bitcoin strategic reserve is a proposed stockpile of Bitcoin that the U.S. government may accumulate for various economic reasons. For a BSR to materialize it would require congressional backing, so Lummis has made it her mission to champion the cause in Congress.
She has proposed the U.S. acquire:
- 1M BTC
- in 5-year installments
- and held for at least 20 years.

According to Stand With Crypto, a non-partisan advocacy group, 276 members of the House of Representatives and 57 Senators are pro-crypto. That’s over 62% of Congress.
