MoonPay adds worldwide support for Tether Gold
Users can now buy XAU₮ via MoonPay instantly with their favorite payment method.

We’re delighted to share that Tether Gold (XAU₮) is now available to purchase for MoonPay customers.
Users in the United States (excluding New York) and worldwide (excluding the EEA) can now find XAU₮ directly in the MoonPay App and complete a purchase using all major payment methods, including debit and credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and bank transfer.
What is XAU₮?
Tether Gold (XAU₮) is a digital token backed by physical gold. It is issued by Tether, the largest digital asset issuer. Each XAU₮ token is backed 1:1 by one troy ounce of physical gold, stored in Switzerland.
In April, Tether released its Q1 2025 XAU₮ Attestation Report, revealing that “the token maintains its position as the highest market-cap, most secure, and compliant tokenized gold product in the market.” As of April 28, 2025, XAU₮’s market capitalization is $770 million, with over 7.7 tons of physical gold backing the token in circulation.
