Changelog – October 2020

In October we released 3 new payment methods for our users; Google Pay, Samsung Pay and instant bank transfers in the UK using Open Banking. Yet a step closer to making crypto accessible to a billion people.

Google and Samsung Pay

Buying crypto with us is easier than ever, as we now support Google Pay and Samsung Pay on Android! They join our existing Apple Pay integration to give customers a seamless purchasing experience.

These payment methods are enabled by default on your widget, unless you pass a custom enabledPaymentMethods query parameter. See "Step 2: Customize the widget" at https://www.moonpay.io/getting_started/ for more information.

Open Banking

It's now easier to pay by bank transfer too. Customers with a GBP bank account can quickly connect to their online banking platform and make transfers from within the widget, thanks to our open banking integration. The option to pay by bank transfer is available to customers with GBP or EUR bank accounts. To enable bank transfers as a payment option on your widget, you must pass a custom enabledPaymentMethods query parameter. See "Step 2: Customize the widget" at https://www.moonpay.io/getting_started/ for more information.IMPROVED

Client-side API Endpoint for US Expansion

On our client-side API endpoint GET /v3/currencies, we now return a notAllowedUSStates array on each Currency object. This is in preparation for our expanded coverage of US states, where some cryptocurrencies may be available for purchase in the US generally, but may not be available in specific US states.Use the new field in conjunction with GET /v4/ip_address, which checks the customer’s IP address and returns information about whether we support that customer’s territory. This version bump from the previous v3 endpoint gives the most up-to-date support information, enabling you to only show relevant crypto purchase options to your customers. Check out the documentation of our client-side API at https://www.moonpay.io/api_reference/client_side_api

Eight New Assets

We've added the following assets: Aave (AAVE), BitTorrent Token (BTT), Filecoin (FIL), Matic Network (MATIC), Ocean Protocol (OCEAN), PAX Gold (PAXG), TomoChain (TOMO) and Uniswap (UNI). These can be purchased by any customers except US residents. We currently offer a total of 77 assets, with US residents able to purchase 16. To customise the assets you offer on your widget, go to your account settings page at https://www.moonpay.io/settings/

New Fiat: Brazilian Real
